It was formed by Wouter van de Voorde, Ibe Ryde & Jon Waterschoot.

[...] Het verlangen om iets groots te verwezenlijken is overduidelijk aanwezig in het project van het kunstenaarscollectief W.I.J., een lettercombinatie die staat voor Wouter, Ibe en Jon. De realisatie van een (virtueel) museum (op schaal) vormt de kern van een corps werken waarin men codes van kunstmusea onderzoekt, onderwerpt aan kritische reflecties en niet zelden met enige vorm van humor ondermijnt. Eigen aan dit initiatief is de projectmatige aanpak waarbij verschillende media (schaalmodellen, video’s, tekeningen en online toepassingen) door elkaar gebruikt worden en elkaar aanvullen. Daarnaast tracht men zoveel mogelijk collega-kunstenaars, tentoonstellingsbouwers, vormgevers, kunstcritici en curatoren te betrekken bij hun queeste. The desire to create something spectacular is in any case abundantly clearly in the project by the W.I.J. artists' collective (which stands for Wouter, Ibe and Jon). The creation of a virtual museum to scale forms the core of a body of work in which the codes of the art museums are examined, subjected to critical reflection and not uncommonly undermined with a certain amount of humour. The characteristic of this initiative is the project-based approach in which several media (scale models, videos, drawings and online applications) are used all together and complement each other. In addition, they try to involve as many fellow artists, exhibition-makers, designers, art critics and curators as possible in their quest. This varied input provides a broad range of insights that are essential to the dynamism of the project. [...]
